PS CS 5 on Mountain Lion: can't paste objects copied from Illustrator CS 5

After upgrading to Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) we can't copy-paste objects from Illustrator CS 5 to Photoshop CS 5. There's no error message, pasting just doesn't do anything. This works in CS 5.5, though.

First thing to check is the preferences in Illustrator CS5: is it set to export PDF and AICB formats?

Yes, both formats are enabled. Some older fixes suggested that disabling the PDF format would fix clipboard problems. In this case disabling PDF has no effect.

OK, that is odd. Unless there's a new OS problem, that behavior should be unchanged -- Illustrator puts PDF and AICB objects on the clipboard, and Photoshop looks for PDF and AICB objects on the clipboard. So somewhere the clipboard handling is borked.

We'll have to do some testing and see if we can reproduce the problem.

Can you take a look at your system and see if you have any haxies or utilities installed that might interact with the clipboard? Or any other applications running (JDownloader, for instance) that mess with the clipboard?

For some reason the clipboard appears to be working again. However, I'm not yet calling this a false alarm as the problem survived several reboots yesterday. We'll have to dig deeper into this if the problems reappear.

Then I would suspect another application is involved.
