Why does PS open a jpg file throught CR?

The file was previously imported and edited in LR 4.1. When opening the file directly from PS ( not sending from LR), the CR windows pops up. Is that normal?

Hi, Yes. Because the file was edited in Lightroom, it has XMP information that tells Photoshop to open Camera Raw to replicate the changes made in Lightroom. (you will see a badge with sliders in Bridge)
How are you opening the file? from a folder? from File>Open? from Lightroom?

Hi!

I see...

I don't use Bridge. Imported into Lightroom, made changes, started PS and opened by File>Open.
Just curious: Will saving the changes in Lightroom (CTRL+S, I assume) make a difference?

If you go into Bridge>Edit and check the 'Show Hidden Files' box you'll find an xmp file associated with your Jpeg, it does this with any Raw file or a file that you have opened in CR.

the .xmp file keeps the changes you make to the image PS treats the Jpeg as a read only file.
