PS CS6: SFW Recorded action exports ".html" instead of ".jpg"

Photoshop cs6. Actions > Recording save for web jpeg with custom name exports ".html" instead of ".jpg". The initial recording export while recording works fine, but the script is incorrectly written to export as ".html" instead of ".jpg".

It is a bug in CS6, it occurred when saved sliced image in SFW.

This is happening without slicing an image, so it must be more than a slicing bug? (not sure what "SFW" is)

SFW = Save for Web.

So since this is acknowledged does this mean it will be fixed soon, or is it something that will be here until there is an iteration, i.e. PS 6.5 or even PS 7?

Oh...and it has nothing to do with slicing either...just a regular action SFW.

Actually to add to that I have to get the dialog to pop up when running the action, which doesn't help.

I just found a work around is to create the Action in a previous version and then export/import that Action into 6. At least for my purposes this seems to work.

Fully expand the steps recorded in the cs? action that works in CS6 and fully expand the same action recorded in CS6 that fails and compare the recorded step options. It sounds like the CS6 Action Recorder has an other new bug. One was reported about a color adjustment layer recorded using the absolute option but played as if relative for the absolute option was not recorded so the default relative use used when the action is played. The same action recorded in cs5 recorded the absolute option was used.

John your link is newer (this report is 2 months old). I just think that the Action Recorder itself is having lots of problems.

I am really surprised that Adobe hasn't fixed this yet as I would think Actions would be a requirement for businesses to function.

I submitted this bug back in april for the beta... http://forums.adobe.com/message/4345979

It wasn't patched in the .1 update. Any idea when this will get fixed?

That is even more disheartening. There should be a simple way for someone to submit a bug report to Adobe, have it acknowledged and an ETA assigned (even if it is CS7)

This is how you report a bug, it has been acknowledged - but we cannot give you an ETA for many reasons.

So this bug was reported... 6 months ago? and there is no word about it being fixed?

Can I use my CS6 serial number to run CS5 and record my actions for import into CS6?

I need a solution, please :)

Any word on when this bug will be fixed? Or do I need to pay $20/month to get it fixed at some point in the future?

Well, I've given up and moved on. There are several options for apps that will rename all of the files in a folder. I created a folder where I have the actions dump the images and the extension renamer app setup to rename .html to .jpg in that folder. It's embarrassing for Adobe that I use some freeware app to fix a $600 app. Their response level is equally embarrassing. We could probably get better customer support from a used tire shop.

I've used both "Extension Renamer" and "Renamer" from download.cnet.com.

What I ended up doing was ...

Save the actions to an .atn file.

Now this is binary, so I edited it with a hex editor. Found the filename with .html extension. I changed it to jpg.

Loaded the .atn file back into photoshop, and now I can run it and it exports the correct .jpg file name.

Thanks Lucid! I should have thought of that. Unbelievable that Adobe couldn't even manage this solution.
