Can you post the affected BMP file somewhere we can download it? (Dropbox, etc)

Do previous versions of Photoshop open the same file without problem?

And is there any chance you copied plugins from a previous version of Photoshop?

1. Yes, CS5 works fine. By converting it to a .psd file in CS5, I was able to open it in CS5. Fortunately I did not uninstall CS5. I would be glad to send you the file but don't know about "dropbox." Can I e-mail it to you?
2. I have not yet installed plug-ins in CS6 but did "migrate" my settings from CS5.

I have the file and I'm able to open it on Mac. I'm having someone try it on Win 7. It would really help to take a look at your system info to see if there's something unique going on with your PS setup.

Hi Don,

I'll send you an email to get the file from you. Can you also post your system info?

So far, we haven't reproduced a crash on MacOS or Windows with that file.

We need to see your System Info to figure out what might be different on your system.

Chris figured it out - apparently when you have 5 scratch disks, and you open a plug-in like the BMP plug-in, you'll crash.

We're working on this issue, and I'll be documenting it.

A workaround might be to only have 4 scratch disks.
