Alexander, what tasks are slower for you?
Did you configure the preferences according to the types of files you work on?
Is Photoshop up to date (what is its version number?)

Can you state your OS version, if you use a dedicated disk with a lot of room for Photoshop's scratch file? How much memory did you allocate for Photoshop?
Does CS5 work in 64 bits mode?

Do you have any 3rd party plug-ins installed? (font management, filters, etc)

Hello!
You have to find what is different between the two installs, as you are an exception rather than a rule... Most users enjoy the speed of CS5.
Again, what operations are slower, are you testing on the same files, are you sure that CS5 is configured the same way as CS3? (especially the number of history steps, the size of the tiles, etc.

I have the same problem. My CS2 worked much faster than CS5 too. (Same computer) I've been disappointed with how much CS5 crashes, goes so slow, hogs all my computer, and doesn't save jpeg files back to Lightroom like CS2 did.

Have you installed all the updates for Photoshop CS5?
Have you disabled all third party plugins?
