PS CC Click-zooming not working

Running the latest version of Photoshop (via Creative Cloud) on OS X 10.9.2 MBP and the zooming is not working properly.

When working on my iMac with same version OS X and Photoshop I can click and zoom in/out without problem. On my MBP when I click a zoom window automatically appears that I have to drag and click again to use (Like it's forcing a zoom window when I don't want one). When trying to zoom back out I click and an invisible zoom window appears and when I click again it will zoom out but it's impossible to tell how far it will zoom out and what the center of focus will be. I've been using scroll-zoom but it's imprecise and hard to use.

Any idea what's going on?

What do you mean by "zoom window"?

And have you double checked all the options for the zoom tool?

I mean the zoom window that appears when you click and drag when using the zoom tool. The same thing is happening when I click and release then move the mouse, a zoom window is formed until I click again and then it zooms in.

Make sense?

I've looked through all the options I can find and everything looks the same between systems.

Nope, I still don't know what you're referring to. The zoom tool doesn't open a separate window, it just acts on the current document window.

And on normal settings, one click with the zoom tool zooms in - there is no second click needed.

If you have "scrubby zoom" enabled then click and drag behaves differently than with it off.

No, I don't have 'scrubby zoom' enabled. And by window, I'm not talking about a separate window that opens (like a new document) I mean a square dotted box that encompasses the area of zoom, like making a selection with rectangular marquee tool.

Example:

"And on normal settings, one click with the zoom tool zooms in - there is no second click needed." - I understand this is how the zoom is suppose to behave (I've been using Photoshop for about 15 years), the problem is that it isn't behaving like this and this is the first time I've ever had the issue.

Ok, that's a marquee. So the system says you clicked and dragged instead of just clicking.

If you're on 10.9, have you installed the WhiteWindowWorkaround plugin to work around the known MacOS 10.9 bugs?

Do you have any other utilities or drivers installed that might change the mouse click behavior?
