PS10 is an absolute waste of time. It constantly freezes with Windows 7. I'm done with your products and the difficulty to get support during off hours. Sorry, I'm not going to take time off work to find how to fix your lousy software. I'm going to Photo Gallery, not as sophiscated but at least you can open it without freezing. Joe Clouser

Photoshop 10 (CS3) is several years older than Win7.
Are you talking about Elements 10?

Also, when does it freeze?
And have you checked your system drivers for updates (especially the video driver - update from the GPU maker's website, not Microsoft).

Chris,

Thanks for your help, but this is exactly my point, no other software that I have purchased is this problematic or confusing. First, excuse me for my ignorance. I'm looking at the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 software box I purchase about a year ago at Costco. So please excuse my product confusion. Maybe the marketing department could study a little about product names that are so similar they lead to confusion.

To my point, I've checked alot of things, uninstalled, installed, and keep hoping for Adobe updates which are quite rare. I want to use this software.....not study it.

Why do I have to check for nuances that Adobe should take care of?

Judging by the number of complaints about freezing, crashing etc. I am not alone in my complaint.

"The Number #1 Selling Consumer Photo Editing Software" Maybe the editing side is great, but I have never been able to use your product long enough without a freeze or crash to find out.

Oh by the way, I have the latest greatest hardware, more RAM than I can count, so it isn't my system. Why don't you have product support for when consumers are at home?

Hi Joe,

Could you provide more info as Chris asks?

such as: When does it freeze? In the Editor? or the Organizer? or both?

And have you checked your system drivers for updates (especially the video driver - update from the GPU maker's website, not Microsoft).

Staying up to date with drivers is important for the software to be able to smoothly run on the operating system and interact with your hardware.

If organizer is freezing/crashing, see this troubleshooting document for assistance:
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elem...

If it's not the organizer, here is another document that has some similar steps to the above document.
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/gl...

Go through one of those documents and see if you can get PSE to stabilize

Let us know how it goes

My copy of PSE10 Editor freezes/crashes often and mostly the second I try to close an image file, whether worked on or not. How often ... basically every time I use it.
My OS id Win7 64bit Home Premium with an Intel i5-2500K CPU not ramped up.

I'm with Joe on this one. I shouldn't have to be a software engineer to use this program. Do a quick search and find the multiple complaints about this software. My setup is the same as FC's (above). I've wasted hours troubleshooting and I'm so frustrated that I'm purchasing new photo-editing software and moving away from Adobe products. Adobe is too big to care right now but some day it will come back to haunt them.

Interestingly I have found a work-around. PSE10 Editor runs fine in Oracle Virtual Box with WinXP-32bit. Far from ideal, but better than replacing it!

I too have constant problems with the editor in PS Elements 10 freezing or crashing. Particularly when I try to use the Lomo effect feature in the "Guided" section.
I never had these problems with PS Elements 9. I was running Vista then, but I don't that that had anything to do with it. I now use Win7 (32 Bit, ultimate edition), but this tends to be more frugal with memory allocation than Vista, and quicker with every other program I use. PSE 10 (Editor) is the only one I constantly have problems with. With the above comments, and others that I can find, I can only conclude that it's PSE that has the problem.
I have to admit that in future I would be very wary about purchasing another PSE product.
