Photoshop CC 2014: Hangs/will not open raw files on Win 8.1 (dialog offscreen)

On 12/12/14 Photoshop CC 2014 stopped opening RAW files. My software is update, Windows 8.1 patches are up to date.

If I attempt to open a file, PS becomes unresponsive. NO error message is displayed. If I press the ESC key, I can regain control of the application. But file will not load.

What is really weird is that if I attempt to open a RAW file in PS FROM Light room, PS WILL read and open the RAW file. But I cannot use any of the RAW file adjustment tools.

Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Is it only raw files? Did it ever work on this system?

Can you confirm that the latest Camera Raw plug-in is installed correctly? http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

Yes, I have been running stable since I purchase this computer in April.

I am running RAW plug in version 8.7.1.311

Yes, the inability to open files seems to be limited only to RAW files. JPG, PSD open fine. But I still cannot use the Camera RAW filters.

I did notice one other thing. My PSD files now have a generic windows icon instead of the photoshop icon.

After working with Adobe support, it was determined to be a Microsoft issue; placing the ACR window off screen (for some reason).

I had the same problem and was desperate.
Until I had the idea to turn on the second screen - there was then the window of Camera Raw.
=> No problem of Windows or Photoshp - just an incorrect setting of the monitors
