Photoshop: Properties panel live numeric input box

For the past few months, I have noticed that if an adjustment layer with numeric input boxes (Hue Saturation, Color Balance, Brightness Contrast, etc.) is active, the uppermost value field box in the properties panel is highlighted, and I cannot use any keyboard shortcuts, because Photoshop is expecting me to input a numeric value. If I try running an action with a keyboard shortcut I get a dialogue box telling me I need to enter a numeric value, etc. etc. It seems that these boxes are now highlighted by default, whereas, in the recent past, you had to actually put your cursor in the box to enter a number.

Does this bother anyone else, or might this be a program/system conflict? Mac OS 10.10.5, Mid 2011 iMac i7 3.4 GHz, 16 Gb Ram, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB

Go to the Properties panel menu and uncheck "Auto-Select Parameter"

Thank you. That worked. Don't understand why PS defaulted to that in the first place.

Yeah. Not sure. It's not the default setting.
