Photoshop CS6: text size changes slightly on close & open

Text in Photoshop documents in no longer as consistent as it used to be.

If I were to set type at 21pt in a document, save it and then re-open, 50% of the time that type would change itself to a decimal number (e.g. 20.56pt) causing blurring around the type.

I’ve attached a picture as an example. The differences are extremely subtle, but the difference is between the text being legible or illegible.

Can you reproduce the issue reliably?
Is there anything particular about the affected files (have you transformed the text layers or rescaled the images) or fonts?
Which version and OS?

It happens more often when I’m nudging text around a document – that’s the only transforming I’m doing. No rescaling.

Working on Photoshop CS6 on OSX Lion – both updated fully.

Howdy Luke,

What kind of monitor and video card are you using? Would you be comfortable either sending me the document or doing a connect session so I can watch the problem happen?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Using a Thunderbolt Display with my MacBook Pro plugged in (Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB / 8 GB RAM).

I’d be more than happy for you to watch, but what I’ll do instead is try to reproduce the error in a document – but so far I’ve had no luck. Extremely frustrating.

Thanks,
Luke

I haven’t managed to reproduce, sorry. I think it may be a problem with the way I was nudging a lot of text.
