Ever since I upgraded my MacBook Pro to the Maverick OS, my tethered capture in Lightroom has been acting weird. Sometimes taking as long as 5 minutes for the images to start transferring to my laptop.

Well there are three photographers. Two are on Lightroom 3 and one on Lightroom 5. We have all been having similar issues since upgrading to Maverick.

Tetherd Capture in Lightroom 5 is SLOOOOOW (Due to Mavericks?).

Ever since i have updated my mac to Mavericks i have trouble getting my pictures into Lightroom 5. The images just won't transfer to my laptop when i use tethered capture and i use it a lot when i work. I already purged the cache but that does not help. I also tried other cables.
Has anyone got a solution?

I work on a 2013 Macbook Pro with Mavericks and my camera is a Canon 5DMKII

I tested with Macbook Pro and a Canon 5D Mark III, upgrade from 10.8.5 to 10.9.1 but unfortunately didn't reproduce it. I have some questions:

1. Is your Lightroom 5.3?
2. Is your Mac OS 10.9 or 10.9.1?
3. Is it always slow to transfer photos to your laptop? Or does it happen occasionally? If it happens occasionally, can you provide more info such as your operations, the camera connection status, and any situation that you think weird just before the issue happens.
4. Does the issue still exist if you restart Tether?

Thanks,
Melissa

1. yes, LR 5.3 and camera raw 8.3
2. OS 10.9.1
3. It is always slow. When i take a picture it takes 40 seconds to even show in LR and then another while for it to render the preview. It is connected trough an 5meter USB cable. even with shorter cables it does not solve the problem.
4. Yes. Even when i completely restart LR and even when i restart my mac.

It is driving me crazy.

We finally gave up as I originally posted this 3 months ago and got no where. We made the switch to Capture One because we have a business to run and the delays were too much and too frustrating to keep us in a good workflow.

I tested many times. And in my testing envrionment I found the following behavior:
1. If I connect to the camera and start shooting right away, it works normally and smoothly and doesn't have any slow down.
2. If my display starts to sleep but my camera doesn't set power saving, after I wake up my display and press shutter button to shoot picture, it will take some time to finish the picture transferring. And it seems the longer my display sleeping, the more time the picture transferrning needs.
3. If both my display sleeps and my camera starts power saving, after I wake up my display and camera, there's more complex situation, and both the connection status and tranferring works unnormally.

All these just happen on Mac 10.9.1. No problem on Mac 10.8.5.
I've already log a bug.

And my still have questions to you:
You said it is always slow. I'm wondering if your Tether connects to the camera successfully and you start shooting right away, is it still slow?

Thanks,
Melissa
