Lightroom 6: Problems with Publishing Services to Facebook and Flickr

I am using LR6. Ever since I changed my Mac, i have been getting these errors when trying to upload to Facebook/Flickr using 'Publishing Services'.

Facebook:
"Please make sure the 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom' app has permission to upload to albums with the privacy level of this album. (In Facebook, look under Account Settings/Apps/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom/Posts on my behalf.)"

Flickr:
"Could not contact the Flickr web service. Please check your Internet connection."

However, I know for a fact that my Internet connection is ok. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to post this.

I have also tried reauthorizing both on my Facebook and Flickr accounts. In the Lightroom Plugin Manager, both Facebook and Flickr plugins are yellow, with "Installed, may not work." Have tried reloading both plugins, and they will turn green. But the moment I close the window, and try uploading, get the error, and go back to the Plugin Manager, they will be yellow again.

Would be grateful if someone could help me please.

Haven't had any problems til about 3 weeks ago then exactly as described above. Two giants like Adobe and Yahoo should be able to get their act together over this and at least provide an explanation, instead just silence.

This export plugin really sucks. About time Adobe fixes it. They are charging us a lot of money now with the subscription plans, which I hate. I expect at least something that works, not issues that are carried on for months and years without getting fixed.

How much do we pay for faulty software?

Bring back Lightroom 5! I never had any problems with it, 6 is a pain in the....

This is the last time I upgrade...

Publishing to Flickr is the only way I share pictures with friends, now I can't do that!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LIGHTROOM 6 - Flickr upload keeps quitting.

Upload to the Flickr publishing service quits (service not responding) very often in LR6 - it only happened very rarely in earlier versions.

Can this be fixed, please? If there's some instability in the Flickr end, an automatic retry solution would be fine.
I often set my photos to upload over night (as it takes hours) and the constant quitting is a real nuisance.

It would seem that the API interface between the programs is very fragile and is always getting bent out of shape. I have now resorted to exporting from Lightroom CC2015 and just using the Flickr uploader instead. It's a pain in the rear, but it works. Seriously thinking of swapping away from using Flickr, and so glad I didn't purchase a premium subscription to marry the two together.

Technology is great until someone changes something and then it's downhill pain all the way. You'd think that paying over £350 for an Adobe subscription they could get these "features" they build in to work robustly. If they don't work, don't include it, it's not rocket science ... is it?

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to raise this query of mine?
I am attempting to upload images from Lightroom CC to my Facebook account. I keep getting the message below.
I have checked the settings in my Facebook account and all meet the requirements stated. The album with the name Adobe photoshop express exists on my Facebook.
Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks, Toni

Years pass, but the Flickr plugin for Lightroom still sucks. It is incredible how much we have to spend for having this crappy software. I have Lightroom on two machines, and use a catalog on an external hd. At a certain point, the plugin suddendly ceased working on one machine, and there is no way to restore it. "unable to connect to the Flickr web service". I tried reauthenticating, deleting the prefs files on the "C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences" foder. No avail. On the other machine, everything still works ok.

Problems in software are understandable. Problems persisiting for years and years (I have this problem since at least year 2013, coming and going) are NOT understandable.

Thought I'd add my two bits worth because I've been through this on two consecutive computer changes.

Each time I've experienced a total fail in publishing to Flickr, it was when I switched to a new computer. I authorized yet it wouldn't publish and I got the same error message as OP:

"Could not contact the Flickr web service. Please check your Internet connection."

Nothing worked, but it resolved itself by simply walking away and trying again in a day or so. For some reason it appeared to take a day or so before it would work.

I have nothing more technical to offer. I initially tried to unauthorize, reauthorize etc. Nothing worked. But next time around it was just fine.

Seperately, I've experienced isolated connection issues to Flickr. The service itself is a bit bush league, especially when accessed internationally (I'm working from South Korea right now).

Take the above as you will.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled lightroom won't upload to flickr, status 504.

I cannot upload photos to flickr using lightroom 6.14.  I get a status code 6.14.  After logging out and logging back in I was able to upload one photo in the album, and then it broke again.
Flickr customer service insists that it is a lightroom problem.

The exact error message, or even better, a screenshot of the error, would be very helpful.

If this is an HTTP status code 504, then almost certainly the problem is not with LR. Rather, a server LR was trying to contact couldn't get a response back to LR in a reasonable amount of time and "timed out".  This server could be a proxy server configured for your local or corporate network, your ISP, or inside of Flickr.

In general, "Flakr" has been very unreliable in the past many years as its owner Yahoo entered its death spiral and got acquired by Verizon.  The owners have stopped investing much in the service.  Most of these mysterious errors go away in a day or two or three.

If the error continues after a couple of days, some troubleshooting steps:

- Try connecting to a different network.

- Try this third-party Flickr plugin: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/flickr

The author and his plugins have an excellent reputation and he maintains them better than LR maintains the built-in plugins.

I'm a big fan of Jeff Friedl.  Adobe should pay him lots of money and incorporate his plugins in Lightroom.

That does strongly suggest HTTP status code 504.
