Elements 14: Problems with cropping and nudging

Using PE14:
When trying to crop an image, I am having trouble with fine control of the crop size.
I only crop to Photo Ratio.
I can drag out the crop area with the mouse, but as I approach the far edge of the image the crop line springs to the edge of the image, which is too far.
If I stop dragging before the line springs to the edge, and then try to nudge the crop rectangle with the arrow keys, PE14 switches to a different crop ratio and drops the crop selection.
Sometimes this happens, sometimes it doesn't.
I have recently upgraded from PE11 to PE14. I never had this trouble with PE11.
No other software changes have been made, hardware has not changed.
Does anyone have a solution to this infuriating software problem?

I have had the same frustration.  How many times I have dragged a crop box almost right and accidently used the arrow key only to get a different aspect ratio!  Try dragging a crop box, then move it with the mouse a little, then you can use the arrow keys.

Kathy, thanks for responding. I've tried what you suggested - it doesn't work (not for me, anyway). It seems the only thing I can do is to press lots of keys, randomly click the mouse all over the screen, curse and swear and eventually it starts working properly.

Adobe must know about this - there's plenty of adverse comment on the web - it's a pity they can't do something about it. I suspect they will fix it in version 15, but I don't buy every new version as it comes along. I can't afford to replace all my software on an annual basis and PE has to wait its turn.
