I have been using Lightroom since it was initially introduced.10 or more years ago so I pretty familiar with how it works. After many years using version 5, I made the decision recently to “upgrade” to the creative cloud version of Photoshop and Lightroom. So far that has been a big mistake. I almost immediately started having problems with Lightroom that I had never seen before. The navigation area and all the side panels would go black so that all I could see was the image itself. I spent three or four phone calls with customer support who checked many things and finally told me I had too many images in my Lightroom files. I has 89,000 image files that Lightroom kept up with, but was told I should limit this to 40,000. I ended up creating several catalogs, none of which was over 40,000 images, but I still had the issues. It was a very buggy program and I just could not use it as easily as I had always found Lightroom. I finally loaded my version 5 again and it works perfectly and easily manages my 89,000 files and after weeks of hard use, I have no problems with version 5. I am really disappointed in the CC version but so far I can’t seem to find anyone at adobe who is interested in this.
