Photoshop/Lightroom: Problems with Brush tool cursor on iMac/Yosemite

I must have accidentally set something that affected the brush tool. When I select the brush tool and paint on an image, the cursor does not change to a brush rather it is the move tool and there is no circle showing the brush size. Also, same day, in LightRoom when I select the adjustment brush, the circle indicating the brush appears in the margin of the image but disappears when I put the adjustment brush on the image so that I am effectively painting blind. Has anyone seen this and know how to reset whatever I seem to have done? Photoshop CC; LightRoom 5 on an IMAC Yosemite.

Not exactly, but there are several known bugs in the video card drivers on MacOS 10.10 that can cause problems with cursor drawing, image drawing, performance, etc.. Apple is aware of these problems and working on solutions.
