Lightroom 4.2 RC: Problem with smart collection and psd file from a b&w raw file

Small problem with smart collections in LR 4.2RC : if I convert a RAW to black and white, then edit it in Photoshop, when the psd is back, if I create a smart collection with one criteria "black and white", the psd file is not included. I have to convert it to black and white (but it is already in BW, the raw file was converted) to make it appear in my smart collection.

When you convert a Raw to BW and then send it to Photoshop, it goes into PS at the bit-depth and color space you've specified. Essentially, it is reconverted to colored placeholder Tiff upon entering PS (or leaving LR). When it comes back from PS it is truly a color file. If you look at your HSL panel before you send it and after it comes back, it will demonstrate this has happened.

I would say Lightroom is filtering correctly in your smart collection based on this.

Hey, I believe you! But it's a little bit annoying when smart filtering on a color or black and white basis with many psd files in the game.

Technically, it is still a color file, because it is in a RGB color space (try to adjust its white balance!). It just happens that all the channels a the same.

On the other hand, when you convert it to Grayscale in Photoshop and it is now indeed a technically black and white image, it is still not filtered by the "black and white" filter/SC.
