Lightroom: Problem with filtering metadata

Hello. I have been using LR 3 for some months now and I really like it. However, yesterday I found that the function to search the Metadata doesn't work properly on my computer. Everytime I am searching for words that are only being written in the "Titel" (German version) field, not all pictures (but some of them) are being found. I checked for spelling, everything is ok. As soon as I write the same words in the field "Bildunterschrift" (most likely subtitle) the missing pictures are being found as well. Can anybody help me please?

"Bildunterschrift" is "caption".

Are you talking about the very same set of images in both search scenarios?

Not that images in stacks cannot be found through searches. You'd have to unfold stacks first before you can find images in them. This is probably not related to your problem, but I thought it's worth mentioning.

Thank you very much for your answer. No I haven't stacked any of my pictures. However, I think that the problem occurs only with my older pictures that have been taken as a jpg. The more recent pictures that I converted with Lightroom into jpg can be filtered properly.
