Camera Raw: Problem with Adjustment Brush Tool (CS6/Win7x64)

I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended (x64) on Windows 7 (x64) on both my desktop and laptop computers. I am having a problem with the Adjustment Brush tool, in Adobe Camera Raw, on both computers.

Here is what happens. I make a change to the image using the Adjustment Brush. I then click on “New” and make another change to another area of the image using the Adjustment Brush. When I go back to the first change I made, to make further changes, and click on the pin, that change disappears. The change does come back, but only after I begin working on it again, or when I click on another pin.

My last version of Photoshop was CS4, and I don’t remember having this problem with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

What version of Camera Raw are you using? Is ACR and Photoshop up to date? http://adobe.ly/PS-Up-To-Date

A couple of questions for you. Can you send us your machine spec, please? Go to Photoshop>Help>System Info> Copy and send an email to me: aohlmeye@adobe.com. Can you also describe exactly what adjustments you were using? When you click on the previous pin, do you wait for a few seconds for the adjustment to show up?

I have attached the System Info you requested in the e-mail I sent you..

"Can you also describe exactly what adjustments you were using?" I am using the Adjustment Brush Tool in Adobe Camera Raw.

"When you click on the previous pin, do you wait for a few seconds for the adjustment to show up?" No, It shows up immediately after just touching (I don't actually have to click on it) the pin with the mouse pointer.

Yes indeed -- I'm a photographer using ACR on a a MacBook Pro, from 2009 with Mac OS 10.6.8, and the adjustment brush in ACR seems to have gone haywire. I can try to make adjustments, but they don't show up unless I do something like click to another tool and come back (by using the keyboard shortcut Z then K, and maybe clicking on the adjustment brush pin too). That leaves no way to see what I'm actually doing.

Not good -- especially when working on Capitol Hill on New Year's Eve while covering the "fiscal cliff."

I'm using Photoshop 13.1.1 x64. That should be the latest, as I'm a CS6 subscriber.

Thanks.

Looks like one of our QE was able to find reproducible steps. Engineering will look into it.

Great -- thanks! It's a wonderful, powerful piece of software, but there's definitely a bug in there somewhere right now.

Problem more serious - Adjustment Brush edit that is not showing in ACR will not carry over to Photoshop Smart Object
I posted this problem Oct. 16 on the ACR forum. Noel Carboni verified the problem with a series of screen shots see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/108352...

Since my postings about this bug, I realize the problem is more serious than I described. If the Adjustment Brush edit preview is not "on" when I update the ACR file to Photoshop as a smart object, that edit will not be carried over into Photoshop. So it is not just a ACR preview problem - that Adjustment Brush edit will not appear in Photoshop. You may spend much time in ACR 7.2 or 7.3 making edits using Adjustment Brushes - only to discover those edits were not carried over into Photoshop.
(Not sure my workaround I posted in that ACR forum always works - but is does sometimes. "Show Mask option is checked AND one of the of the Adjustment Brush pins is selected").

Problem does appear to exist on my older Vista machine which still has ACR 7.1

I also posted problem in this forum 3 months ago... http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

I updated the video card driver yesterday on my HP Z220 - once again, made no difference
