Photoshop/Lightroom: Problem saving 16-bit files in CS6

I'm running CS6, and LR4 - when I send an image to PS - make changes and then save as - CS saves the file in the right place, but won't send it back to LR - also although I might save a RAW later as a JPEG, it saves the file, but does not show the JPEG in PS - normally I would expect the extension to change on the screen, but it doesn't. I've checked all my preference settings, and I can't see a problem there.

Also, if I just open a file in PS and 'save as' again - it still leaves the original file on the screen, I don't get to see the new file with the new file extension. eg I save a RAW file as a TIFF, but I can still see the original RAW file. Even with layers flattened.

Any thoughts?

I've solved my own problem - I was working in 16bit.... jpg's won't work like this. Once I told lightroom to work in 8 bit - it stopped telling me that a JPEG could only be saved as a copy - and happily sends the files back to LR.....

Thought I'd post my solution in case anyone else has the problem. PS - will accept the 8 bit files.

Sorted.......
