LIGHTROOOM 5.4: Problem Exporting To Email Using Outlook 2012

I am continuing to have a problem where I can not email a photo using Lightroom 5.4 because I got a message saying, “Can’t launch the default email client The attachment file size exceeded the allowable limit.” The last photo I tried sending using Lightroom’s Email photos option, which was attached full size to an email without a problem is 7.81MB. I also had the issue with LR 5.3, as I recall.

When I selected “Original size-very high quality” during the process of using Email photos in Lightroom, I got the above message saying it couldn’t. Interestingly, the third time I tried it with the same photo, it worked without a problem! The resulting file was 4MB. I have attached up to around 13MB files as attachments directly to Outlook 2012 without a problem. Obviously, there is a problem with Lightroom 5.4.
This is occurring on a Windows computer running the 8.1 OS.

I have contacted Adobe Support about this and they said they tried it with a large file and couldn't reproduce the problem. But that doesn't sound like very comprehensive testing. How large was the file and what version of LR, Windows, and Outlook were they using? They also basically said that the issue is not Lightroom! Adobe Support is not the best, I've found. When will this be fixed?

I am using LR 5.4 and I also can no longer send images as attachments. It has always worked until recently and I had a few export presets configured to send images in various sizes. Just today noticed the export no longer works. regardless of which email preset I use I also get the “Can’t launch the default email client The attachment file size exceeded the allowable limit.” error. Has this feature broken in the last update?
