Photoshop: 21.2: When you click off of what you’re working on the graphic goes black in document with Artboards

We installed the latest version of Photoshop, 12.2 and immediately noticed that when you click off of what you’re working on the graphic goes black. We spent two hours on the phone with three agents and still could not resolve the issue. We updated Photoshop on another Mac and had the same result. This is a really bad feature (bug?) of the latest version that can really slow down a design studio like ours (time=money). We went back to 20.0.9 and everything is working properly now. (Note, Macs are running IOS 10.15.5)

Does your document contain artboards? If you go to Preferences > Performance... is "Legacy Compositing" enabled? If so, uncheck and let us know if that fixes the problem.

No difference. Yes, we are working in artboards.

OK. It's probably a GPU issue where your card is not correctly recognized. If you go to Preferences > Performance... is "Use Graphics Processor" enabled? Do you see the name of your card displayed under Detected Graphics Processor:

Correct. That is exactly what we have.

I think there's a bug/glitch in this new version, until it's corrected we will run the older version.
Two hours on chat with three Adobe agents couldn't resolve the issue.
