Since Lightroom 6, I think, there has been a problem with changing the Backup type. I normally set it to 'once a day'. Recently I have been doing a lot of reprocessing and sometimes change it to 'when Lightroom next exits'. Every time I do this, as soon as I do it, even before closing the selection window, the hard drive get very busy. On closing the window, it is so busy it stops responding properly to the user interface. The disk goes berserk for about 2 minutes before it settles down and responds normally again. Part of the reason for the reprocessing was before I realised this was repeatable behavior I had done an incorrect synchronise because of the delay in the UI.
