prioritise upload of smart previews

Two days ago, I began a migration of a lightroom classic catalogue containing over 10,000 images to the unclassic cloud, later to work out that the process of uploading all the originals would take a solid 3 days.

This was frustrating, and half the speed I know my broadband to be capable of given the file sizes involved, but something I could live with.  I migrated because I wanted to be able to share work via the gallery, and wanted to be able to work with images at full resolution on both machines where I had CC installed, but without manual synchronisation.

As I already had smart previews synced from Lightroom classic, I know that I'd be able to get started publishing content straight away.

The problems started when I added another 200 pictures today.  These images do not have previously synced smart previews, and it looks as though I'm going to have to wait a further 24 hours for the backlog to clear... Even though this backlog contains images that are already available via the cloud in an admittedly limited form.

This is unacceptable!  It's not at all hard to take 1000+ pictures shooting a single event, and I often want to be able to show these as a rough preview on the same day (it helps people better see what they subsequently gain with post editing, and why they shouldn't only judge my fee based on the time they see me with camera in hand).

If the backlog has to be laboriously worked through then I'm looking at a 6 hour delay before all of those thousand images are available for sharing - this could be cut to mere minutes if previews were uploaded before originals.  The situation must surely be far, far worse for anyone who doesn't have a fast FTTC broadband connection.

The more I try to work with unclassic Lightroom, the more I feel that it isn't yet fit for purpose, and that it should be plastered with disclaimers and warnings and labelled as a beta.
