Prevent jumping to new collection when creating new collection

I'd love to remain in the same folder location when creating a new collection, instead of Lightroom taking me to the new collection. When sorting a lot of photos, I have the metadata tab open, and have some fields selected (e.g photos taken in November of 2015)...however when I create a new collection, it takes me to the new collection...so then I have to start from scratch, backing out to the folder I was previously in, and then re-selecting metadata (which is now reset to the none tab).

Is there a preference/setting I'm missing that prevents LR from taking me to the new catalog so I can remain in the folder I was in with the metadata fields I had chosen?

One thing that will make it a little easier: 'Library - Enable Filters'. That will lock the filters you've activated, so when you jump back to the folder you don't have to activate them again.

When creating the collection, try unchecking the "Include selected photos" option, then just drag your selected images to the newly created collection.

It's an extra step, but a pretty minor one that should keep you from having to navigate through the folder panel again.
