Lightroom/Camera Raw & DNG: Presets Disappear for DNGs

[Update: I've converted this into a feature request to grey-out rather than hide inapplicable presets.-- John Ellis]

I have a dozen presets, some were saved in LR Classic and some in the new LRCC. When editing RAW files, they all work fine, but when editing DNGs (i.e. from a drone), the presets that were created in LRCC are not showing up. From my perspective seems like a bug, unless there's a setting I'm unaware of that would correct this.

I agree, it does feel like a bug. What's really happening is the presets were set to select a profile that isn't available for this particular camera, so Lightroom is hiding the presets that can't be fully applied as designed.

A related confusion occurs when editing non-raw photos -- presets containing some kinds of raw profiles (but not all) disappear with non-raws.  It's a poor user-interface design -- there's nothing to indicate that presets are being hidden. A better design would simply grey-out presets that LR thinks are inapplicable rather than hide them, and if the user clicked on one, an error message would explain why they are hidden.

"Where are my presets?" has become a more frequently asked question than "Where are my lens profiles?".   See here:

I would prefer grayed out to hidden, and to NOT change the ability I now have to create a custom profile that both raw and JPEG files can use. — I use Camera Raw, not LR, but they're kissing cousins now.
