Workaround - keep a "dummy" photo with dust spot removals for syncing with newly imported photos.

The only problem is that there is no auto-intelligence to determine whether it's best to remove dust spot or leave it in, so you have to manually delete the ones that are doing more harm than good.

As far as this feature being added to a future version, it used to be an early version of LR, but they removed it, so I suspect they won't be putting it back, for the reason Rob gave, that it is a picture-by-picture decision whether a particular spot can effectively be removed.

On a related subject, is there a shortcut key to switch between clone and healing while using the spot removal tool?

Hi Rory
Tap “Q” to access the Spot Removal tool. Shift + Q toggles between Clone and Heal modes.

Cheers

I was able to do action in photoshop and just with one click and all dusts what are bathering me get removed. Now with Lightroom 5 i am in love with healing brush its make my work easy specially with the Visualise spot i don't miss any. So i hope i would be able to make preset in Lightroom.
