Is there anyway to get premiere elements 10 to recognize my canon hfs30, I am currently using a trial version but will not buy if it does not see my camcorder.

Hi Robert,

I haven't tested the Canon Vixia HF S30 myself, but I have heard of others using several of the other Vixia models successfully.

If you have connected it but its not being recognized, it might be because its not connected to a USB 2.0 port?

If its connected to that kind of USB port, I think you should be able to just transfer files from the camcorder in the Premiere Elements in the Editor under the Project tab using Get Media > Flip, AVCHD, Cameras, Phones or Removable Drive option.

Hi David,

I have USB 2.0 on my desk top and followed the instructions to transfer the files from the camcorder. I was very surprised when the HF S30 was not seen by Premiere Elements. I had previously tried Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 but I just did not like the program.

I have been using Photoshop for years at work and home, I have always liked Adobe products.

Thanks,
Robert

Hi David,

I think I have a temporary work around, I would hope that Adobe would try to figure out what the problem is.
I connected the camera to the computer, I use Win 7 so I clicked on the computer icon and created a directory that I could easily locate. The computer looks at the camcorder as another hard drive, I then copied the .mts files from the camcorder to the directory I had created on the computer hard drive. Then I went into Premiere Elements and transferred the files to Premiere Elements.
