Premiere elements 15 shuts down after volume adjustment in time line

After I adjust the volume of a audio track, adobe premiere 15 shuts down. The helpdesk says that is has to do with a windows update. Now they tell me to get elements 16. I believe this is not the way customers should be treated. I have elements 15 for less than 12 months.

Anyone an idea how to fix the problem

@adobe, A generous offer for a free update to elements 16 would be appriciatted. (im using adobe programs for more than 20 years for photo and video edditing).

Dump PS Elements!  It's been nothing but a problem and it's easier to find a Unicorn than to to get any assistance from Adobe.  Use the following - Adobe Bridge CC2018 (free) to manage photos, Affinity Photo ($50) from Serif and Photolemur ($20).  All available for Windows and Mac.  Much better!  Here is a great resource for photo scanning and management - https://www.scanyourentirelife.com
