Premiere Elements 13 can't handle text on Macs

I have a major problem in Premiere Elements 13. Mac version. When I have 4-5 minutes of clips in the timeline, and I try to add text, and Default Text, nothing fancy, the software just slows down to nothing. It takes like 3 minutes to have control back. And afterward, if you even dare try to open the 'adjust' tab, and you are on a Text, or are going on Text, then you have to wait about 3 minutes to get control back. And as long as the 'adjust' tab is opened, e.v.e.r.y little change, whether changing from edit text to position, or even trying to move on the time line.... you have to wait for about 3 minutes in order to have control back.

This is totally ridiculous.
I have an I-Mac, mid2010 with 16G Ram. A couple of months ago I only had 4Gs and instead of waiting about 3 minutes, it was crashing.

We are talking about text here... !!

I'm having the exactly the problem on a Mac mini -- i7 with 8GB ram. When working with text, it can't seem to do ANY basic text manipulation and then it slows down and then pinwheels for a while then crashes.

I went to Macs to avoid this type of junk, I expect this from Microsoft and Windows applications, but this is ridiculous.
