Hi, I'm using a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD505 and am having problems with Adobe Premiere Elements 12 in getting media from a mini DVD. Offline, I get an error message that I need to access an internet address and so I can't seem to work with the DVD at all. Online, I can see the two files, I can select or de-select them, but when I get to the "copying media" box I hang up at 50% (only selected the 6 minute video) or 25% (both selected). If I hit "cancel" when it seems hung up, I crash PE 12. I have an Intel i7 processor, but only 8 gigs of RAM. Am I having a RAM problem with PE 12? Am I being too impatient, and if I give it 10 minutes or so I'll have my video available as an asset? I have a firewire port, would it work better if I accessed it this way rather than through the DVD drive? I don't have a cable to try it, but I could buy one if it'd work better that way. Or, can I download a plug-in to interface between the DVD (Sony) format and Elements 12, either from Adobe or Sony? What is the best way to make my videos usable? I can't even get the media added as an asset. Should I try ripping a clip with Handbrake first or is there software I should download and use to reformat the video into something more import-able? What do I do? Thanks
