Lightroom 4 Windows 7 PC m2ts files form Sony Handycam do not play properly skips and audio not matched in the Lightroom player. .mov files derived from the m2ts do no play well also. However if I right click the time of play in the thumnail it gives me the option to play in the default video player in my case VLC. In VLC these files play full screen perfectly.
My request is to have the Lightroom 4 player play these files correctly and optionally full screen. Also I would like the option of choosing my default video player VLC as the video player of choice when I click the little time box in the thumbnail. Please advise !

Hi, I'd like to get your video files to see if we can determine the problem you're having. Can you add your email to your profile, so I can email you privately?

thanks!

Two suggestions:

Uninstall QuickTime.

Choose your default video player in the operating system. It's not something LR has control over.

both AVCHD from a Sony Handycam m2ts files play perfectly in VLC when I right click and choose play in default player. Both do not play in the LR 4 player. Other .mov files not derived from AVCHD play well. I am using Amerisoft to convert to .mov. Clearly the codec is not compatable as the AVCHD or the derived .mov stutters when playing. As I want to play full screen and as the LR4 Player cannot play full screen as yet I will stick with the VLC player. It would be convenient to have the option of using VLC not only as my default but also when I double click the time of play stamp it will launch VLC without having to right click and choosing the default player each time.

Lightroom 4 does not play video correctly. It will start to play a video it will go very choppy then freeze and the sound will continue to play. This happens with video from multiple supported sources and the video plays in multiple applications outside of lightroom.

I am running windows 7 64bit. System is an i5 2400 with 8GB or RAM

I'm using a trial version of Lightroom 4.1. This has serious problems particularly with handling MTS videos from my Sony RX100. First it takes forever to load up a file if it has multiple videos along with stills. If I select one of the MTS videos for playback, again I must wait sometimes for over a minute for it to buffer. Then once it finally decides to play it is choppy, both audio and video. I can play the same files in WMP and WMC, and without issues, with instant playback. Lightroom 4.1 has serious multiple bugs, which does not appear to be tested before it was released. Please fix this because at the moment it's not worth buying.

Same as for LR 4.1 and 4.2 beta. This software is still unusable for basic video viewing. Compared to other players as comparison (WMP, MPC-HD, Mplayer ) MP4's has noise bands and graininess not seen in other players. Playback of AVCHD (MT2S) is absolutely atrocious. Video is choppy, completely locks up and does sync with audio. No way am I paying to purchase until Adobe can fix this!!

I just discovered what is causing choppy playback of AVCHD video (MT2S format). Perhaps other formats too. The viewing option to playback video in draft quality must be checked. If draft quality playback is left unchecked, video playback will be poor or freeze up.
Another bug for Adobe to fix

I LOVE Lr4 and can't wait for it's release, playing around in Beta - once in a while I'll run into an issue and thought I should bring it to your attention.

So, my problem is - it won't play my videos. In the Library, I'll hit play, it'll play for a half of a second and then, *chop chop chop* ....end of the video. They're not long video clips, a couple seconds each; 6-15 seconds long - but none of them play.

Is it a glitch or did I do something wrong?
