Photoshop: Poor rendering of smart objects compared to previous versions

I'm new to CC having jumped from CS5.

When I paste a vector object from Illustrator as a Smart Object into Photoshop CC it is poorly rendered compared to the exact same clipboard item pasted into CS5. In both cases I have antialiasing switched on and the same DPI.

I've seen other posts on a similar theme but none seems to cover exactly this issue or have examples.

One thing I've noticed is that Photoshop CS5 offers to create an image at the right size for the item in your clipboard, the size proposed by CC is smaller than that proposed by CS5.

Would welcome any thoughts.

I see this often. I think this is because anti-aliasign algorithm. Try change it in preferences. Anyway your result might be still poor no matter algorithm. Espcially if you have strong perpective transform and transparent edges.

Just seems odd (and I know you'll have seen this said often too) for it to get worse with a new release.

If you have PSD/PSB inside smart object. You can try "Unsmart" script: http://bereza.cz/ps/ it keeps a lot things including deformation but it can't deal with all features e.g. smart filters so it depends on situation and you lose smart object advantages. Anyway results might be much better than layer as smart object.

I have on this forum my issue with wrong smart object croping. Sometimes is missing pixel row on smart object bottom if pixels would be semi-transparent.

If they're being pasted at different sizes, then either your dpi isn't the same or you have the Resize Image During Place preference turned on...

Could you post your PSD with the Smart Object content embedded? (url to either Dropbox or Creative Cloud) I think Jaroslav might be right. It does look like the Interpolation is set to nearest neighbor.

I would guess more likely "bicubic sharper" it adds light and dark glow around high contrast areas. If I remember correctly. Maybe this algorithm can't deal well with semi-transparent pixels

This is what I am talking about: 

If I add visible pixel next to broken pixel row/column, then is edge rendered correctly.
