Elements 10: Why do I need Plus membership?

I don't understand the need to upgrade to plus membership. Other than the xtra features, does it actualy give me more space within the software on my computer or is it simply more backup space? My new upgraded Photoshop Elements 10 doesn't seem to be working. Seems locked. There is a message on my screen that I have used all of my storage space of 2.0 gb. Is this why I need to upgrade? I don't understand if the "storage" is within the software on my compter or online backup storage. I don't want to spend $50.00 per year just for back up. Thanks.

Storage there refers to your online storage.

Thanks. Any idea why it would be locking/frozen as I mentioned above?

No idea, we'll have to wait for the Elements folks to answer.

A Plus Membership is a special subscription to Photoshop.com. It gives you extra downloadable content for Photoshop Elements, special online content for Photoshop.com, and 20 GB of online storage space. It is possible to increase your online storage space with/or without a Plus Membership. We cannot increase the amount of space available on your computer.

You can upload images or video to Photoshop.com directly through the web site with your web browser, through a stand-alone application you can download from Photoshop.com, or through the Back/Synchronization function of Photoshop Elements.

You are being informed that your free 2 GB of online space has been filled and Photoshop Elements will no longer be able to use the Back/Synchronization function that uploads your files to Photoshop.com. This should not prevent you from using any other functions within Photoshop Elements. The only reason you would need to upgrade, either to a Plus Membership or increasing available storage, is if you wish to continue uploading images and video to Photoshop.com.

In what way is Photoshop Elements not working?
Are you currently viewing the Welcome Screen and clicking the Edit and Organize buttons is not working?

If you cannot get past the Welcome Screen, try clicking the Manage My Adobe ID link if the very bottom left of the screen. It will ask you to verify your account password. Do not type in you password, instead click Sign Out to the right, next to "Not your account?". This will disable the Backup/Sync function of Photoshop Elements.
