I’m afraid you may have to elaborate on what about the interface it is that so bores you.
Edit: Sorry, naturally you don’t »have to« do that, but it might help make our point.

And then possibly argue the case of why an interface should be »exciting« (I guess that should be about the opposite of »boring« here) and what the merits thereof would be to professional users.

Hello,

I am 20 years photographer.So i think i know a little bit what people want.It's like
coming on an office who did not change in 15 years.I am using CS for 15 years.
Tired of looking at it.
Examples : Lightroom,Pixelmator looks nice to work with.CS not ! By the way,Why
is the interface from Ps Elements nice and fresh. It's not because CS is a program to work with that it should be sad.Coming back to the office, now and then there
are flowers and plants on the desk,or not ?
And the space who's not used,i don't understand.
Put one line more to the tools so you can see them ALL,that's 120 clicks less in a
day! See also at the top so much free space who can be filled with tools or others,
to reduce the hidden tools.
I can give many examples in comparing with our live. Here another one : the dashboard on the car you attempt to buy : if it looks nice and "Tools are easy to find" it gonna give a better"Feeling" to drive with.

So,i hope i made myself clear.
Remember that i am not a critical,it's the other way.
I send a lot of mails to program makers,to make if possible things better and"Good looking"

Greetings,Gilbert Lagaisse

Could it be that you are not familiar with Configurator, a free tool that allows to assemble tools, commands, scripts etc. in Panels oneself?
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/co...
All-tools-panels are available, for example

Since there's no vote for no! I vote no to this idea.

The dark interface is for video editing not photo editing.
As a regular user of photoshop elements 10 on a mac(from what i've seen it's even worse on the windows version) i can tell you from personal experience that the dark interface in elements is neither good for editing photos or your eyes.
I did try a trial version of photoshop cs5 and low and behold one can actually see what your doing, but alas i can't afford the full version of photoshop.

Just my two cents worth.

(i do like the idea about being able to move the tools around for better access)
