Photoshop: Please add a lasso option for selecting vector points

It would save us vector users a ton of time if there was a way to select vector points with something like a lasso tool. For example, selecting the points in the picture below (ie. selecting all outside points of the ring) took me about 30 seconds. With a lasso tool, it would have taken 5 seconds tops.

I don't think a new tool is necessarily required here - just an option and/or modifier key for the direct selection tool would probably do the job nicely. Perhaps an option that turns the rectangular selection method into a freehand one and/or a polygonal one.

So, you mean in addition to the Marque option with the Direct Selection Tool, an option to Lasso instead?  Excellent idea.  Illustrator could use that as well.

Illustrator has it. It's called the "Lasso tool."

Yes, it is. I hope Adobe will add it to Photoshop one day, as they've imported many good vector features from Illustrator over the years.

Agreed they've brought over a bit, but left a bit behind. I'm still waiting on that Gradient Annotator AI has. Color sets in Swatches, and incorporating pattern fills and gradients there, as well. I wouldn't mind the Recolor Artwork dialog, either, or the Pattern Options dialog, although both could be improved/enhanced, if the PS team had a mind to it. <g>

IOW, I still use have a reason to use AI.  '-}

That's a great idea.
