Photoshop: How can I add a white board to the top and bottom of an image?

Hi all, i want to do something really simple but i am new to photo shop and cannot work out how to use it, i have a simple jpeg picture and i want to add a white boarder to the top and the bottom of it (not at the sides) can someone advise me on how to do this please

Set the Background Color to white (D), then use Image > Canvas Size (maybe set to Ā»RelativeĀ«) to increase the Canvas vertically.

Christoph's suggest is great because you can define exact dimensions.

But if you want to take a faster, more freehand approach just use the Crop Tool and drag outside of the canvas.
