Photoshop: Placing an image inside of another.

I have a big problem here.

I'm trying to place an image inside another, but (after selecting it with the magnetic lace tool) everytime I try to paste it onto the second one, only the outile of the image appears; not the image itself.

How can I make the actual image appear?

It sounds like you have selected the area outside the object and need to invert the selection to select the object (instead of the area around the object).

Choose Select>Inverse
Copy the object and then try pasting it in the second document.

If you are trying to drag from one document to another, hold the control key down to also grab the bits below the selection during the drag.

Expanding upon what Jeff said, your selection tool is probably in Subtract mode. So the selection you are creating is the exact opposite of what you think it is. Looking at the Tools Options bar with a selection tool enabled there will be four icons on the left:

The first is for making new selections, the second is to add to existing selections, the third (which I guess you currently have selected) subtracts from existing selections, and the last intersects an existing selection with the next selection you drag (only where the two overlap will an selection exist when done).

Where are these tools found. I do see anything except resize, crop, etc.

Could you post a screen shot so we know what you are looking at? There should be a lot of tools at your disposal. However, Resize isn't a tool, it's a menu command. Crop is both a tool and a menu command, so just trying to make sense of what you are seeing.
