What version of Photoshop are you using? Have you installed all the updates?

What OS version?

Make sure you have installed all the Photoshop CC updates - you should be on CC 2014.2.1 (aka 15.2.1).

If you don't have the updates, you might be seeing an old bug with the color palette (fixed in the updates). Or you could be seeing a bug in the video card drivers on MacOS 10.10 (Apple is working on them).

OK, so you were most likely seeing the color palette bug, which was fixed in the update.
