Elements 9: Photomerge two pictures - looks perfect on screen - goes through 'create full resolution result' and then 'flatten image' then crashes. Ideas??

In the title you say it hangs, and in the body you say it crashes.... which is it?

HI Chris

After 'flatten image', the 'final' image disappears and any mouse clicks aren't recognized - that is the hanging part.

Sometimes the two original pictures will reappear and I am asked if I want to save any changes to the two original pictures. The 'final' photomerged picture is lost.

Ok, can you provide more detail on that? How does it slow down the computer? And if it causes a crash, can you send me the images so we can try to reproduce the problem?

Thank you again for your help.
I get the "79.5% Layer 10 RGB/8 not responding" on the top of the menu - then the elements window goes full grey (one time it went full black) - then back to the start of the process with one of the original pictures showing.

I will do some screen shots for you tomorrow.

take care

Ok, so that's still not a crash. Sounds more like a video card driver problem.
But yes, it would help if we could see what you are seeing.

Yes, that's why I asked for the images, so we could reproduce the problem.

I took the two images and compressed them down to 100 kb. The merge then worked fine! Does that mean a memory problem? I do have 4 gigs of RAM memory and additional virtual memory. I would hate to have to compress the pictures down so much - it ruins the image.
