Photosthop: Keeping the same label for new layers via cut/copy

It would be nice to keep the same layer label on a new layer via cut/copy.

Example: If the original layer is "base layer" the new layer via cut/copy it's called "base layer 1"

Doing massive 3d renders editing having to manually label every single layer is really time consuming...   =/

I might not quite understand.

Why do you copy and not use Layer > New > Layer Via Copy (cmd-J)?
That way the resulting Layer would either be named »... copy X« or have the same name as the original Layer, depending on the Layer Panel’s Panel Options settings.

Hi Christoph! Thanks for your reply.

Actually it works only when you use copy (Cmd J) but when you use new layer via cut (Cmd + Shift + J) it starts labeling as "layer 1"...

Sorry, I had apparently not quite understood your original post.

If the task is a frequent one for you you might want into look into a Scripting solution for »Layer Via Cut« with immediate renaming/numbering.
