Elements 11: Not able to print directly on a CD/DVD surface on a Canon Printer. (Driver/plug-in issue)

There are many printers that have the ability to print directly onto a CD/DVD that travels on a tray to get into a starting position and then the printer feeds the tray through the printing process.
I was able in Elements 11 and earlier versions to use this feature of my old printer (Canon Pixma 8220) but when I upgraded (really??) to Elements 15 that came to a stop! Ugh!

Hi Chuck,

First, since you're new, I need to say: Adobe no longer supports PSE11 and 12.  But I am still the lonesome tech who wants to hear these problems.   I am aware of the Canon printing on a discs. Canon Pixma 8220 printers have a plug-in on its disc for Photoshop Elements compatibility found in this knowledge base https://www.dpreview.com/articles/5903293949/canonmg62508250
and if youo already have that installed, it should work.

Also this person on this page says it works for her (Doris) see below this page.
https://qwiklearn.com/forums/showthread.php?12498-Photoshop-Elements-15-Compatibility

Also, I have the system requirements if in case you need this but it makes no mention of Adobe, only the OS.  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/tech-specs.html

You don't say which OS you have or if you still have PSE11, which indicates you have Windows-something.  If you have PSE11, print the disc from that.

PSE11 will work even if you have PSE15 on the drive.  Launch PSE11 before launching PSE15.  Otherwise, PSE15 will freeze while opening.   IF it freezes, launch the Task Manager, select PSE15, and get it off the screen.   Its freezing doesn't effect PSE11.

Thanks for the info about the Canon 8220 plug-in. That's probably why I was able to print directly from PSE 11.  Sadly, my Pixma 8220 died last week and has been replaced with a Pixma 9020.

I have never been able to find the right techie who knows what's going on with Canon software.  No one I spoke to ever mentioned the plug-in.

I'm operating on a Mac-book Pro, with two partitions on my hard drive. One has Sierra and the other has Mountain Lion which I kept in place as I was getting my house in order with Sierra.

I can boot with either Opsys but I have had trouble with files saved in PSE 15 when I try to use PSE 11. Also, I was led to believe that PSE 11 wouldn't run under Sierra.
I will try to see if I can launch it and try to use it to print a CD with the TS9020.
I'll let you know if I am making any progress.

Chuck,

Why didn't you tell me you had a TS9020 instead of a 8220?
I have not found a plugin for TS9020.  I only found knowledge bases concerning few notes on PSE14 which is like 15.

In most cases, PSE14 (and maybe 15) will work the PSE editor but not organizer. Both worked for only one one person who was running Mac OS 10.12 as he upgraded from Yosemity to Sierra and never used El Captian.  Most other cases, PSE14 did not work in Mac.  Notes are pointing at Sierra as a problem with PSE.

I am a Windows tech not a mac tech, otherwise, I would guide you through what will seem like a nightmare.  I reached a page where it says to delete all of the Preference lists out of PSE14 and then after stripping it out, restart the program.
I will never advise this, but then again, Mac user do what they do.  The notes show they were experimenting with PSE15 but no results were posted.  See here:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2211458

Since you using Mac I cannot give sustainable advice for that.  Also, I am not familiar with TS9020 as there was no reference to that model number.

I just got off the phone with Canon and the plugin is planned for the "Pro" line (about $300 more for the cheapest member of that series).

If I were a social scientist I would say "Power gravitates to Money!"

I now have to use a work-around which is to finish my design of the CD the label in PSE 15, flatten the file and send it to Canon's "My Image Garden" package and hope for the best results.

You've done a lot of digging on this issue and I greatly appreciate your effort.

Thanks again, Chuck

Chuck,
I found one for you on Ebay - $40 cheap at Ebay-UK at this link:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adobe-Photoshop-and-Premiere-Elements-11-Bundle-CD-DVD-/201990905212 only one left.  It may not last.  I see someone is looking at it.   It's from UK.  See if they can ship to here.

There are others on the page I found.

Chuck,
if you do not have PSE11 anymore, you might find one online for cheap.  Make sure it's new.  With a used one you don't know what you're getting.   Make sure the disc says Adobe on it.
