Photoshop's obsession with opening folders

Hi. There's something that I've always really found very inefficient and cumbersome in Photoshop: the program's obsession with opening ALL folders and layers when I open a file!! This is noticeable and Illustrator too and it drives me mad! I don't need the feature, and I don't want it. What's the sense of having to close every folder before actually starting to work? Maybe somebody finds that useful, but a really do not. So I ask you please to include a check box in Preferences to disable this feature from happening by default.

Thank you.

By default Photoshop remembers the state of the layer groups in the saved file, and restores that state when you reopen the file. It doesn't open the layer groups, just remembers how you had them open or closed when you saved the file.
