Photoshop: Why do I get a warning when throwing away one layer and not when I flatten the whole document?

Are you more upset that you don't get a warning with deleting a single layer or that you're not warned about flattening your document?

Personally, I don't like a lot of warning dialogs because we have things like 'Undo" and the history panel if we do something stupid and need to undo it.

To that end, Photoshop has been moving to model of warnings that lets users "Don't Show Again":



If you want to restore warning dialogs that have been set to "Don't Show Again" you can go to Preferences and click "Reset All Warning Dialogs":
