Photoshop text wrap

A feature that I think would be helpful would be to have a text wrap feature just like is in Illustrator. That would come in very helpful when doing website design mock-ups when trying to wrap paragraph text around an image, just like it would flow in the actual version of the website.

I know of a workaround by creating a shape path and then making another path around the image to cut that out of the original shape and then to type in the path. But this is not as good as the way it can be done in Illustrator because in there you easily move the objects around and the text will dynamically wrap when you reposition the objects the text is wrapping around.

So if there was some way to replicate the exact same functionality that is in Illustrator for the text wrap function in there, that would be great.

Thanks for your help.

Photoshop isn't object oriented like Illustrator, so can't guess what parts of the image you want to wrap around. So, Photoshop requires you to specify where you want the text using paths.

We'll have to see if we can figure out a way to make it more editable - but Photoshop really can't do the same thing as Illustrator, because we're working with different kinds of data.

Hey Chris, thanks for the reply. I realize that Photoshop and Illustrator are different in that one is mainly for working with raster graphics and the other is mainly for vector graphics. And I am not really talking about wrapping around just a specific feature of an image, I was actually talking about wrapping around an entire image or object.

For example, I am currently working on a site design where I am trying to show what it would look like with a sample image in there. The image is just an image on a separate layer from the text, and I am just trying to wrap the text around the entire image, similar to the way it would look like in a browser.

I have it working here, the only problem is that if I want to move the image down or over or whatever, I have to recreate all the paths. It would be nice to be able to move the image around and still have the text reflow around the new image location, similar to the way it does in Illustrator.

If this does get implemented, maybe there could be an option for the text wrap command that would offer to wrap around the object's bounding box (like the image below) or based on transparent pixels (like is done in the image above). Just a thought...

Thanks again.
