Photoshop sometimes is unable to open or create new documents. When I try to, nothing ends up happening. Whenever this happens, I have to restart Windows to fix it. Problem happens kind of rarely but frequent enough to be a nuisance. Can this be fixed in a future version?

I'm on...
Photoshop CS5.1
Windows 7 x64
Also happened in previous Photoshop versions and on Windows XP.

The few times we've seen something like that, windows were opening on another display, or a third party plugin bug was causing problems. I think that at one time there was also a buggy printer driver causing similar problems, but I think we added more error checking around that a while back.

So, this is probably not an application bug, but something happening just on your system. And you're going to have to do some troubleshooting to find the cause on your system.

Have you tried disabling your third party plug-ins?

i only use 1 monitor.

i dont have any extra plugins installed.

i'm also using the latest printer driver for my canon pixma IP4500 printer [version 2.0 released back in 10/25/2009]

so it seems to be a problem with photoshop itself.

Hmm. If this wasn't an machine specific issue we'd be getting tons of complaints about it. What happens if you remove pixma driver? Does the problem go away?
