Photoshop: Select next/previous layer (quickly jump from layer to layer)

I always have a lot of organized folders and layers in my document. When I want to select a particular element in my design I always cmd click on the element I want to select (for example a menu bar group). It selects the child. I then have to go to the layers palette, scroll up and select the group so I can move the parent around.
Setting the move tool to group is not an option, because I have many nested folders.

So, if there is a function or script 'select next layer', 'select previous layer', which can be bound to a hotkey I can easily go to the folder I need without scrolling up and using my mouse (Wacom). This feature will make my life a lot easier!
