reverse layer order of selected layers.

when i transform and duplicate the same layer i get a lot of layers stacked on top of each other in the exactly wrong order. it will be great to have the ability to select all of them and reverse their order.

Sounds like a good job for a script.

yes, can imagine that:) but i can't write scripts.

would be great to have it as a feature in photoshop.

could be helpful also for other things.

Ok here is a script :)

reverseLayers();
function reverseLayers() {
var desc31 = new ActionDescriptor();
var ref24 = new ActionReference();
ref24.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Lyr '), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
desc31.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref24 );
executeAction( charIDToTypeID('Rvrs'), desc31, DialogModes.NO );
};

The Object Model Viewer for the API is available in the help of ExtendScript Toolkit, this is the IDE that is installed along with Photoshop.
A couple of great forums for Photoshop scripting are :-

I Don't Think People want to be Writing Scripts? They want Push Button Convenience.

Along with the Suggested "Reverse Layer Order" The Two Things that I would Most Like to See Are:

Layer Duplicate - With an Option to Enter How Many Duplicate Layers You would Like - Or a Slide Bar to Quickly Select from 0 to 10 Copies.

The Other Thing: Mentioned Below:

The Ability to Select Many Paths for Deletion - with the Control/Shift Key instead of One at a Time.

My 2 Cents. Take Care, Tracy Mapes

Ok create an action that does...
Layer - Arrange - Reverse

wow! thanks paul.

that works perfect.

anyway it would be great to have it as a part of ps, so everyone can use it:). doesn't seem to be that hard to implement it in the interface:)

Thank You Paul Riggott,

Action works like a charm. I assigned F3 for action and now reordering layers is easy as never before.

Best Regards.
