Photoshop: Please give me the option to disable the " copy" that's added to duplicated layer names

Dear Adobe Gripes #7808, #7209 & #12909

"Stop appending "copy" and sequential numbering to the end of each layer i
duplicate. what purpose does this serve? i am well aware it's a copy - i'm
the one that just copied it."

"I would love to have it not add "Copy" to the end of every copy. It makes
things messy and at the very least should be an option. I've spent way to
many minutes removing that four letter word."

"Please give me the option to disable the " copy" that's added to
duplicated layer names. Cleaning up hundreds of layers to make a PSD file
presentable (for clients) gets incredibly tedious."

We added this option in Photoshop CS5. Choose Panel Options... from the Layers Panel flyout menu:



And uncheck "Add 'Copy' to Copied Layers and Groups":
