I have Photoshop cc thou the cloud, and the select tools when used turn my images black and keeps me from being able to select any part of a image I am working on. SO far there are no answers as to why , no matter where or who I ask. cant get work done. Using windows 8

Note: This topic was created from a reply on the Photoshop CC: I can not use the Direct Selection Pen Tool on a selected compound ... topic.

Determine what video card you have and go directly to the manufacturers website (nVidia or ATI/AMD) and download the latest driver:

After you have the latest driver, Try restoring your preferences:

If doing both of those doesn't help, select Edit>Preferences>Performance... and click [Advanced Settings...]. Set the Drawing Mode to "Basic" and restart Photoshop.

Yeah, that's a well known bug in Windows 8 that Microsoft has not yet patched. Updating the video card drivers almost always solves it (well, works around it).

Yes, there are also video driver bugs in MacOS 10.10 and 10.11 that can cause similar symptoms.
