Dear Adobe Gripes #17744:, #2733, & #17683,

"I'd like to use Cmd+H for "Hide Photoshop" and Ctrl+H for "Hide Selection". I get an error that Ctrl+H is an OS shortcut and cannot be used. WTF?! If that is a joke, it is hilarious. Ha ha."

"Use standard keyboard shortcuts."

"Why won't you let me use Cmd+H for hiding Photoshop and Ctrl+H for hiding selections? How long does it take you to get this right?"

This is possible in Photoshop CS5. A little background: Photoshop used Cmd + H to "Hide Selection" and "Hide Extras" for years before OS X adopted the keyboard shortcut for hiding applications.

Here's how you do this in Photoshop CS5:

The first time you try and use Cmd + H, Photoshop CS5 will ask you if you want to use it for the OS functionality of "Hide Photoshop" or whether you want it to use the shortcut to "Hide Extras" in Photoshop:

If you decide you want to change this behavior back, you can choose Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts... to modify the behavior at anytime:
